Le Bon Temps's Louisiana-born owner, Eric Kohzindar, always had a soft spot for the even softer dessert from his hometown. When he moved to Dallas, he just had to recreate that delectable piece of home in some way.

Simple but mouthwatering-that seems to be the core tenet of Le Bon Temps's menu. If you're coming just for their straight beignets, you'll have two choices. However, with the addictive flavors at work here, you won't need much more than that.

• Classique is the traditional French Quarter beignet, fried and powdered.
• Le Boneignet has an even flakier texture thanks to some primo butter lamination between its layers.

Of course, if you're craving more than beignets, you can try a beignet ice cream sandwich or even solo ice cream treats. Personally, we're fond of a Classique and their Avec de l'alcool ice cream-it's got vanilla bourbon in it!
